8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Both the University and the Freshman cross country teams scored clean sweeps against Massachusetts Agricultural College yesterday afternoon with scores of 15 to 56 for the University harriers, and 15 to 60 for the Freshmen. Leslie Flaksman '29 won the University race in 28 minutes, 24 and four-fifths seconds. G.C. Aldrich '31 took first in the Freshman race, covering the shorter course in 18 minutes, five and four-fifths seconds.
Aldrich was elected captain of the Freshman team after the race. In addition to his victory yesterday Aldrich placed first in this season's Holy Cross race, and probably would have won the Dartmouth race last week if a misplaced flag had not thrown him off the course.
Seven University runners crossed the line before Captain Preston of Massachusetts Agricultural finished. G.B. Lee '30, in spite of a bad knee which kept him out of the Dartmouth race last week, finished only a few feet behind Flaksman. R.G. Luttman '29 finished third, with J.O. Wildes '29, and Captain J.L. Reid '29 running a dead heat for fourth and fifth places.
The summary of the University race follows:
Flaksman (H), Lee (H), Luttman (H), Wildes (H), Captain Reid (H), Mitchell (H), Hyde (H), Captain Preston (M.A.), Time--28 m., 24 and four-fifths s. Score--Harvard 15, Massachusetts Agricultural College 56.
The Freshmen placed nine of the first ten men, making within one point of the best score possible. Beecham Moore '31, and H.D. Everett Jr. '31 followed Aldrich in a dead beat for second and third places. P.S. Dalton '31, and Donald Cobb '31, took fourth and fifth places.
The summary of the Freshman run follows:
Aldrich (H), Moore (H), Everett (H), Dalton (H), Cobb (H), Hartridge (H), Hodges (H), Wilston (H), Baskin (H), West (M.A.). Time--18 m., five and four fifths s. Score--Harvard Freshmen 15. Massachusetts Agricultural Freshmen 60.
