Two regulars will be out of the lineup Saturday when the Crimson meets Davidson, Coach Lloyd Jordan announced last night, following a practice in which pass offense and defense were emphasized.
Wingback Bob Cowles, who suffered a shoulder separation in the Columbia game, is not expected to play, although he worked out in sweatclothes yesterday.
The other player, Harvey Popell, starting end in the first three Crimson games of the season, is in Stillman Infirmary and will be out "for an indefinite period," Jordan said.
Jordan is not sure whom he will use to replace Cowles Saturday, but it will be either Dexter Lewis, Frank White, or Brian Reynolds. All saw action at the wingback post last week. Either Joe Ross or George Clark should take over for Popell.
Long passing, with Dick Clasby and Carroll Lowenstein doing most of the throwing, was stressed in practice. A defensive passing drill followed, without contact work.
The second team again hustled through a heavy workout, perhaps because it is expected to see a good deal of action against the winless Wildcats.
