Two members of the faculty of Harvard University are among these who will give lectures at the Lowell Institute during the second half year. The Harvard lecturers are G. H. Taylor, assistant professor of History, and Dr. G. B. Magrath '94, recently appointed professor of Legal Medicine, and medical examiner of Suffolk County. Professor Taylor, who will give a series of six lectures, starting next Tuesday, has taken for his general subject "Mediaeval Contrasts" while Professor Magrath's lectures, which begin on Monday, February 8, will be on the general subject of "Medicine is Some of its Relations with the Law." All the lectures begin at 8 o'clock.
The dates and subjects of Professor Taylor's lectures are as follows: February 2, "Color and Accent in the Mediaeval Ways of Life: Social Types; February 9, "The Approach to God: mystic and rationalist;" February 12, "Ideals and Achievements;" February 16, "St. Louis and Frederick H: a Contrast of Contemporaries:" February 19, "Mediaeval Thought and Mediaeval Contrast."
Dr. Magrath's lectures, which will be illustrated, will be taken largely from his experiences as medical examiner for Suffolk County. Definite subjects have not been picked for each lecture, but Dr. Magrath will confine his remarks very largely to his activities as medical examiner. The dates of his lectures are February 8, 11, 15, 18, 25, and 29.
Although the lectures are free, tickets are necessary for admission. They may be procured by applying by mail to the Curator of the Lowell Institute, 491 Boylston Street, Boston, and enclosing one stamped, addressed envelope for each ticket desired.
