James D. Cobine '35, instructor in Electrical Engineering, disclosed recently that successful research is being actively carried on in the High Voltage Laboratories of the Graduate School, of Engineering in the field dealing with the conduction of electricity in gases.
According to Cobine this research has been particularly fruitful in connection with the high-pressure arc. The dynamic and transient characteristics of the arc have been studied as well as the transition from glow or corona discharges into the arc.
