ORDER OF CLASS CREWS FIXED

Six Freshman Boats on Water For First Time This Year.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Yesterday afternoon, for the first time this year, all the Freshman crews had a workout on the Charles. The first two 1920 boats had been on the river before, but not until yesterday did the lower crews have the opportunity to work out of doors.

No shifts were made in the first three University or in either of the first two Freshman crews. C. Higginson '17 is still substituting at bow in the first University shell for A. Potter '17, who is out with the measles. The nine crews of the University squad have been divided up into three University crews and six class crews; there are three Sophomore, two Junior, and one Senior boats. The personnel of these class crews is largely provisional for, due to the fact that the "Pup" has not been going right, Coach Brown has not had a good opportunity to get a line on his men.

Interclass races will be held in the spring, and the winning crew will go to New Haven on May 19 to compete against the winner of the Yale interclass crew races.

Yesterday the first class crews rowed as follows:

Senior A.--Stroke, F. A. Ingalls '17; 7, I. C. Whittemore '17; 6, W. C. McIndoe '18; 5, J. Blake '17; 4, C. A. Adler '17; 3, W. T. Jenney '17; 2, A. S. Foss '17; bow, B. K. Adams '17; cox., R. Gerould '20.

Junior A.--Stroke, F. G. Balch '18; 7, T. R. Allen '18; 6, G. C. White '18; 5, J. L. Weld '18; 4, C. L. Poor '18; 3, J. W. Angell '18; 2, L. Alvord '18; bow, S. W. Dickey '18; cox., O. K. Fried '18.

Sophomore A.--Stroke, C. Canfield '19; 7, W. Gaston '19; 6, G. L. Batchelder '19; 5, H. S. Chase '19; 4, G. M. Parker '19; 3, R. E. Strawbridge '19; 2, M. B. Walker '19; bow, R. K. Baker '19; cox., E. L. Mitchell '19.

More coxswains are needed for both University and Freshman squads. At present there are not enough candidates on the University squad to cox., the upper class crews. There is a good opportunity for men who have not had previous experience to win positions on the upper crews. Men who come out at this time will not be handicapped in any way.
