A new and splendid pool parior and smoke shop has opened its doors opposite Widener Library and will welcome all members of the University who choose to follow the ivories over the great open spaces of green felt.
In the days when Leavitt and Peirce held open house for upperclassmen only, and Freshmen were ousted without much ado from their billiard tables and tobacco counters, there came a Texan gentleman named Joe Dobbins to the cake-box emporium on Massachusetts Avenue.
"Dugan", as Joe has been nicknamed for many years, has provided the life of the party at Leavitt and Peirce's ever since he left the professional baseball diamond in Texas in 1918. His pool matches with Arthur Clement of lunch room fame were memorable occasions in the old days, and Dugan hopes to revive the great indoor sport among the college men of the present generation at Joe's Place, where the old Rialto used to be.
