Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
That the "Harvard system" will remain in vogue for the Columbia football team for at least three more seasons is assured by the appointment of C. F. Crowley '11 as head coach at that institution with a three-year contract.
The announcement that Crowley would head Columbia's gridiron hopes came as more or less of a surprise to close followers of the team. He has been coach of the ends at the Now York school for the past two years during the regime of the late P. D. Haughton '99 and Dr. Paul Withington '12, who succeeded Haughton when the latter died in the middle of the season last fall.
Regular End at Harvard 1908
Crowley was a regular end on the University football team in 1908 which defeated Yale 4 to 0. Columbia's new coach then left the University and entered Notre Dame where he played end for two seasons. He returned to the University, however, as an assistant coach. He coached the Crimson ends and scouted the opposing teams for two years before P. D. Haughton '99 took him with him in 1923 to help build up a winning team at Columbia. Since then Crowler has been coach of the Columbia wingmen.
His knowledge of the "Harvard system" and the Notre Dame style of play together with several years of coaching experience should combine to make Crowley a great coach.
