Having finished their basic training at Fort Bragg and Fort Sill, 49 members of the Class of '45, who left last June under the ERC as advanced students in the Field Artillery Reserve Officers Training Corps, returned yesterday for a period of additional training and duty before going to Officers Candidate School.
Then men have been lodged in Standish Hall of Winthrop House, together with the pre-draft age ASTP reserve students. They will eat at the Winthrop Dining Hall and base all their activities at the House.
Leader of the new group is Captain Russell N. Fairbanks, FA, former instructor in the Military Science Department. They have no student officers as yet, as the group is not fully organized.
The men will take a combination of college and military training and will also assist in the administrative work of the Army organization at Harvard. This Administrative work will probably consist, among other things, of drilling their roommates, the Reservists.
The college course which the returning Mil. Sci 3 corps will be allowed to take must be in subjects of use to the Army, according to information from Shannon Hall, Army headquarters.
